Dear Governor Spitzer,

I am writing to urge you to support SHARED PARENTING BILLS for New York State in the SENATE (#S-02818) and ASSEMBLY (#A-03673). Shared Parenting would provide another option besides sole custody for Family Court and Supreme Court judges to choose from when deciding upon custody of children. This second option, Joint Custody (which is already law in 45 other states), will enable judges to choose without having to worry about their decisions being overturned on appeal.

The final say on joint custody, of course, rests with judges, but the law should be worded in such a way that judges are free to make this choice.

Please do everything within your power to support and pass these bills into law. The children of New York State have waited long enough.
