The barbecue was going all day. ...besides the hot dogs and hamburgers, there were salads, Italian hero,
beans, fruit cocktail, ice cream and ices, watermelon, soda, iced tea, bottled water and more!

The kids had a blast! While it wasn't hot enough for the usual amount of water play, they bravely
squirted each other with water balloons and played at the fountain. The kids ranged in ages from 3 to 14
and quickly made new friends. All of the children were exceptionally well-behaved and the parents were
great at keeping an eye on everyone's kids. Binky the Clown entertained for the first three hours with face painting,
magic, potato sack races for prizes and more. Each child was able to bring home at least one toy which could have included Matchbox cars, hula hoops, giant sunglasses, playing cards, markers, crayons, play dough, or plastic balls and bats. We on the Executive Board voted against any kind of violent toy, including water guns; and while the kids were asking for them, we were glad to see that they found other ways to entertain themselves. There was an organized softball game. The pony ride was enjoyed but most of the kids, even our own Amanda Greenfield!

And speaking of kids finding enjoyment, you're never too old for magic! Once again we were regaled
by the magic of Steve who mesmerized his young and young-at-heart audience for an hour.

To cap the day, we had three raffles: two lucky kids each excitedly went home with a special prize,
and our 50/50 raffle ended the day. ...

Although the picnic was scheduled to end by 6:00 at the latest, Tom, and Chef of the Future,
was still making hamburgers (with his lucky pet rock on the grill) until almost 7:00.

Hopefully you were there and enjoyed yourself as much as we did. If not, please mark your calendar for next year's Fathers' Day picnic. It will be our 12th' year, but the first one in the 21st' century.

Thanks to all who came early to help set up or stayed late for clean-up. ...

HAPPY FATHERS' DAY TO ALL
